WHO IS A CHRISTIAN?

SOMEONE WHO HAS REALIZED -

God who made the world and all things in it …..He is Lord of heaven and earth”   ACTS 17:24

“There is none righteous, not even one”   ROMANS 3:10

“I (Jesus) and the Father (God) are one”   JOHN 10:30

“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”   ROMANS 5:8

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me"   JOHN 14:6

SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN REGENERATED -

"unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”   JOHN 3:3

"according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again"   1 PETER 1:3

"when you were dead in your transgressions ....... He made you alive together with Him"   COLOSSIANS  2:13

"I will put My laws into their minds, And I will write them on their hearts.
And I will be their God, And they shall be My people"  HEBREWS 8:10

It is only through God's grace that we are saved.

It is through God's Spirit alone that we are BIRTHED into God's Kingdom.

SOMEONE WHO HAS RESPONDED -

“Unless you repent ….. you will perish”   LUKE 13:3

“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord,                                                                                                     and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,

you shall be saved."  Romans 10:9

Striving to know Christ and make Him known through the exposition and application of His Word

Our purpose is the advancement of the Gospel by contributing to the edification and sanctification of believers and the salvation of sinners.

WHY ANCHOR FELLOWSHIP?

Our fellowship has come out of local churches that were lacking in a commitment to the Holy Scriptures.  We attended churches that were strongly influenced by the world system and traditions of men - congregations that held a high view of man instead of a high view of God.

Therefore being spiritually malnourished and weary of searching for a biblical church we decided to form a new fellowship anchored in the Holy Scriptures.  The Anchor Fellowship is the result.

Today we are consistently moving toward bringing our structure, methods and goals into harmony with the Word of God.  The result is eliminating many dear and traditional ways of doing things.

The Anchor Fellowship is a scripturally sound, Christ centered church located in Social Circle, GA.  We are currently meeting in one of our elder’s home.  We currently have a membership of about twenty-five adults and are blessed with a flourishing children’s ministry.  God has given our congregation five scripturally qualified elders who oversee, care for, protect and feed God’s flock.  At this time we have no paid staff.  We are open to the ideas of a Church building and a full time pastor-teacher.  We are constantly seeking God’s will in these matters waiting on His timing and His growth.

The Anchor Fellowship started in June 2009 with a regenerate membership and a church government described in the New Testament.  We meet every Sunday morning for a time of music, prayer and expository preaching.  On Wednesday evenings we meet for prayer and the systematic study of God’s Word.  We have and will conduct various bible studies for young married couples and college students in other member’s homes as needs arise.

We are committed to Evangelism and Missions.  We currently support a Bible College and Seminary in Croatia and a Bible teaching ministry in Kenya.  This and other mission support comprises over 40% of our budget.
